President

Mobile: 021 622 463

Scott Macindoe has been an influential figure in the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council for many years, serving in various leadership capacities. His journey began during the Government’s Soundings Public Consultation in 2000, where he collaborated with NZ Big Game Fishing Council leaders, leading to the spontaneous emergence of the option4.co.nz initiative.

From 2005 to 2009, Scott played a pivotal role in the landmark Kahawai Legal Challenge, a case that stretched the Council’s resources but also proved the strength of its advocacy. This legal victory has had a lasting impact on recreational fishing in New Zealand. In 2012, he helped launch LegaSea, a public awareness and fundraising platform to support the Council’s advocacy efforts.

Scott served on the NZSFC Board for several years, initially co-opted as LegaSea liaison and Chair of the Fisheries Management Standing Committee, later representing Zone 2. His dedication was recognised with Life Membership in  2018. He is also a long-standing member of both the Warkworth Gamefish Club and the Hauraki Gulf Sportfishing Club. In 2024, Scott steps up as President with a clear vision: to empower the Council’s Standing Committees with fresh capacity and to drive wide-ranging fundraising initiatives. His leadership aims to ensure the Council is well-equipped to meet future challenges and continue advocating for recreational fishing in New Zealand
