Submission. Broadbill into the QMS. NZBGFC. 27 Feb 2004
Submission providing background info on the broadbill swordfish fishery. It is unacceptable that the Ministry and Minister of Fisheries continue to turn a blind eye to the illegal fishing practices in the broadbill fishery. Submission urges the Minister to ban the use of lightsticks to target swordfish. Submission by the New Zealand Big Game Fishing Council, predecessor to the NZ Sport Fishing Council. 27 February 2004.
Submission. Amateur regulations review. Recreational. 11 Sep 2006
Submission notes the importance of defining the purpose of regulations before further amendments are made. Submitters do not support a minimum legal size (MLS) for gurnard or trumpeter due to potential increased release mortality. Submission supports the change of MLS for blue cod, from 33cm to 30cm, in the north. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council and option4. 11 September 2006.
Submission. Shared Fisheries policy. Recreational. 2 March 2007
Submission for managing NZ's fisheries for the benefit of all New Zealanders. A comprehensive submission in response to the Ministry's Shared Fisheries policy proposals. Submission by recreational interests, groups and individuals. 2 March 2007.
Submission. Southern bluefin tuna TAC review. NZSFC. 11 Nov 2011
Submission against the Minister increasing the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) and ACE available for Southern bluefin tuna. The Minister needs to take a precautionary approach because increasing catch when the scientific advice shows the spawning stock is critically low is risky. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 11 November 2011.
Submission. Southern bluefin tuna TAC increase. NZSFC. 5 Dec 2010
Submission highlighting the need for the Minister of Fisheries to act in a precautionary manner and retain the existing Total Allowable Catch (TAC) of 420 tonnes, with no carry over of uncaught ACE to the following year. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 5 December 2010.
Submission. Rig 2 TAC review. NZSFC. 29 July 2011
Submission highlighting that the proposed options are inadequate to address the problem of overmatch of the Rig 2 commercial fishery. Submission notes that the SPO 2 stock is under threat from excessive catch and dumping of small unmarketable rig. Adding SPO 2 to the 6th Schedule will be counterproductive, in that it will provide for legalised dumping of rig catch. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 29 July 2011.
Submission. Scallop 1 TAC review. Recreational. 24 Aug 2006
Submission rejecting both proposals to provide an additional 60 tonne of ACE for the 2006-07 fishing year. Submitters acknowledge the variable nature of the scallop fishery and the need for caution. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council and option4. 24 August 2006.
Submission. Paua ACE carry forward. NZSFC. 14 June 2011
Submission objecting to the removal of Paua from Schedule 5A of the Fisheries Act to enable up to 10% of uncaught ACE to be carried forward to the following year. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 14 June 2011.
Submission. Kingfish 8 TAC review. NZSFC. 29 July 2011
Submission recommending the Minister confirm the status quo for the Total Allowable Commercial Catch (TACC) in Kingfish 8. Submission also urges the Minister to ensure 100% observer coverage on chartered factory trawlers while in New Zealand waters as there is potential for significant under reporting of commercial kingfish catch in KIN 8 as part of the 30,000 tonne jack mackerel fishery. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 29 July 2011.
Submission. CRA 3 & 4 TAC review. NZSFC. 5 Feb 2010
Submission highlighting concerns about the availability of crayfish in CRA 3. Submission rejects any Total Allowable Catch (TAC) increase in CRA 4. Submission supports calls for better process and consideration of statutory obligations. Concerns the National Rock Lobster Management Group is ignoring the concerns and interests of recreational fishers. Submission by the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council. 5 February 2010.
