Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club

The Whangaroa area is steeped in history and rich in legends. To those that have discovered its secrets it is also known as ‘The Jewel of the North’, ‘Marlin Country’, and a ‘Fisherman’s Paradise’. 
The towering cliff faces and deep water sheltered coves and inlets of Whangaroa Harbour offer perfect anchorages for a spot of fishing. Pipis, Scallops and Oysters are plentiful in the harbour with an abundance of Crayfish outside. The Cavalli Islands nearby are renowned for world class Gamefishing.

The Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club is situated in the picturesque township of Whangaroa, Northland, New Zealand and is host to many fishing tournaments throughout the year. It is also a great spot to soak up the atmosphere of this magnificent, historic harbour.

Facilities and Amenities

The Club boasts a fully-licensed Bar, a Restaurant, Showers, Eftpos, SKY TV, NZSFC Tags, T-shirts etc.

Car Parking – There is ample car parking for Marina and Club use.

Supplies – The Boyd Gallery nearby offers food, clothing, bait and fishing supplies. 
In the nearby township of Kaeo (10 minutes drive away) there are two petrol stations, a Four Square and a laundromat. Free internet access (including wireless) can be obtained at the Kaeo Library.

Boat Hire – There are some highly recommended local Charter Boat operators

Dive Fills – Available across the road at the Marlin Hotel.

Fuel – Diesel is available on the Clansman Wharf at Whangaroa (BP Card required) also Totara North across the harbour (Mobil Card Required) and you can also use a Diners fuel card.

New anglers can get membership prior to fishing from the clubrooms or our website (www.whangaroasportfishingclub.co.nz), or on the day via radio on VHF 62, calling either the club or Whangaroa Marina.
