Helen has always had an affinity for the water and has been a sailor most of her life. She was involved with the Pakuranga Sailing Club, culminating in the position of Commodore. The first female one in Auckland at that time. Being on the water and boating is a large part of what she does and has a brother in law, two sisters in law, a son in law and two nephews who are passionate about fishing. So she is surrounded by fishermen and women. Usually she helms while they all fish! She says that they are better at it than she is but she is learning!
Helen has come into the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council from a background initially of a legal executive, and through the years worked in accountancy and desk top publishing. Recently she was the Administration Manager at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club and was involved with the club Magazine, yearbook, membership, Marina, employment documentation and the financial accounting for the club.
In her administration role with the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council we believe that her skills will enable our Society an organised pathway to move forward.
